Nottingham Forest fans have reacted to the news that former loanee James Garner looks set to sign for Premier League rivals Everton before the transfer deadline.
The Manchester United midfielder spent last season on loan with Forest, becoming a key player in Steve Cooper’s squad who won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. The 21-year-old put the decisive ball into the box for Levi Colwill’s own goal against Huddersfield at Wembley Stadium.
Forest have been among the clubs to be credited with an interest in the midfielder this summer, with Manchester United making the decision to cash in on the academy graduate. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a return to the City Ground is not on the cards for Garner.

The journalist reports that the midfielder is closing in on a £15million move to Everton. It is claimed that a medical has already been completed by the player, and that United have inserted a buy back clause into the deal, Garner is said to be set to sign a five-year deal with the club.
Following the news, Forest fans took to social media to give their reaction. Here’s what just some had to say...
Tiegan : James Garner made 61 appearances for us in two different loan spells, probably the one that hurts the most as it genuinely felt like he was ours.
Shaun : Happy for Garner as he'll get to play every week... Sad it's not for us.
Ultimately, I'd rather Yates, Mangela, O'Brien fight for the midfield spots.
Hilly : Seeing Jimmy Garner in anything other than Garibaldi Red is Wrong. This one stings!
SouthWestRed : Regarding Garner…would have been nice to have him back if we could have done something earlier in the window but am I going to sit here and cry about it? No…do I think Freuler, Mangala & O’Brien are currently better than him? Yes.
AJ : Everton are getting a cracking player in James Garner. Hopefully they can utilise him to his full potential. Absolutely mad that Man Utd are letting him go. Would still love it if #NFFC came in at the eleventh hour.
Warren Allsworth : Shame United didn’t put Garner up for sale earlier in the transfer window as fairly certain he’d have signed for us.
Top talent Everton look to be getting.
Adie Hull : Can't help but think if Ten Haag had made his mind up a few weeks earlier, he'd have been a full time Red. Never mind, all the best JG. You'll always get a warm welcome at the City Ground!
