Man United make season ticket announcement ahead of planned fan protest

  • Manchester United have revoked 685 season tickets and issued reduced penalties or warnings to 464 supporters after an investigation uncovered organised ticket touting networks controlling hundreds of accounts.
  • The club examined 1,617 accounts for unusual activity between March and June, with 499 bans subsequently upheld by an independent appeals board, 73 supporters choosing not to appeal, and 113 failing to respond.
  • Manchester United acknowledged that the crackdown caused significant distress to innocent supporters, admitting they had underestimated the prevalence of fans sharing account details and passwords.
  • All season tickets recovered from the crackdown are set to be redistributed to fans currently on the club's official season ticket waiting list.
  • Fan group The 1958 has urged supporters to unite and protest outside Old Trafford prior to Sunday's derby against Manchester City, demanding that the club present clear evidence or lift the sanctions.
