Man United injury update: Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek latest news and return dates

Injury issues continue to hit Manchester United as they look to secure a top-four finish and their final piece of silverware of the season.

Erik ten Hag is hoping to have Raphael Varane back sooner rather than later having lost Lisandro Martinez and Phil Jones to long-term issues.

In midfield, Scott McTominay’s condition continues to be something of a mystery while Donny van de Beek is pushing towards his return.

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is another currently out of action as the final weeks of the season approach.

Here is your latest update of Manchester United injuries and return dates...

Raphael Varane

After initial fears Varane would be out for the season, reports have emerged that he will be ready for this weekend’s clash with Wolves.

Ten Hag has confirmed that the defender is “closer” than McTominay to a return but he was not pictured in training on Thursday, raising doubts of his inclusion on Saturday.

McTominay was also absent from training ahead of Wolves having been officially ruled out of the game by Ten Hag last week.

The exact nature of his injury remains unknown yet he could still return this season.

Donny van de Beek

Dutch midfielder Van de Beek is nearing a return to light training as he steps up his recovery from a serious knee injury, which ended his season in January.

He said earlier this month: “I’m doing a lot of gym work and getting closer to being on the pitch, which is positive. I’m not far away.”

Lisandro Martinez

United will finish the campaign without Martinez in their defence after he broke a bone in his foot in the Europa League tie with Sevilla.

An operation was required, meaning he will not play again until pre-season.

Phil Jones

A long-term knee injury has all-but ended Jones’ time at United, with his contract up in the summer.

Some fans had hoped to see the veteran centre-back amid fitness issues across the defence, but he has reportedly never trained under Ten Hag since the manager’s arrival.

Tom Heaton

The club confirmed an ankle issue for reserve goalkepeer Heaton before the March international break.

Despite an initial timeframe of a “few weeks” detailed in his assessment, he has not made a matchday squad since.
