Man United fans share transfer theory as Antony and Frenkie de Jong react to Van de Beek post

Manchester United supporters have conjured up a transfer theory after Donny van de Beek attracted some high-profile attention after his latest Instagram post.

Having struggled to make his mark two years after his Old Trafford arrival, the Netherlands midfielder will finally be given his golden opportunity next season. Van de Beek has returned to pre-season training as mentor - and former Ajax manager - Erik ten Hag continues to put plans in place at Carrington.

United have agreed deals in principle to sign Tyrell Malacia and Frenkie de Jong and further deals are on the radar for Ten Hag as part of a much-needed rebuild. Ajax forward Antony has been identified as a top target and he may yet follow the Dutchman across to Manchester.

In order to finally make his mark as a United player, Van de Beek will likely have to compete against De Jong and current midfielders such as Scott McTominay, Fred and Bruno Fernandes. But who else will the former Ajax man be able to call his teammate from next season?

After lacing up his boots back at Carrington, the 25-year-old provided an update for his Instagram followers and it was a post which later had supporters second-guessing who else might arrive this summer. Van de Beek uploaded several pictures to the platform and added the caption: "Pre-season mode."

With an agreement in place over his impending €65million transfer, De Jong soon liked the post, as did some other United targets. Ajax star Antony and reported target Lisandro Martinez were among those to follow suit and that has prompted a rather lively and ranged discussion on social media.

Of course, some are pointing to this as a coincidence given an existing relationship between the players. However, it is also worth pointing out that Antony - who represents Brazil at international level - only spent a few months with Van de Beek at Ajax before the latter signed for United.
