Man United fans look to wind up Leeds United supporters with edited Wikipedia boast

Manchester United supporters have continued their celebrations of their victory over Leeds United by editing the Elland Road Wikipedia page.

Despite the best efforts of the Whites to turn Sunday’s game on its head after Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes’ first-half goals, they ultimately came away empty handed.

Rodrigo and Raphinha’s efforts which levelled the scoreline after the half-time break were insignificant as Fred and Anthony Elanga wrapped up the three points for the visitors.

After waiting more than 18 years for a home league game against their rivals from across the Pennines, the game didn’t disappoint with a real old-school feel to proceedings at Elland Road.

Unfortunately, the result matched what supporters have come to expect in matches against the Red Devils and pushed Leeds further into the relegation battle.

As Manchester United moved back into the Champions League places, there was plenty of celebration for their fans inside the stadium and on social media.

They even took to the platform of Wikipedia to boast about the victory as Elland Road’s official page has been edited in the aftermath of the 4-2 win.

The site, known for its capacity to be edited by anyone with internet, is often the subject of changes as a result of what is going on in the football world.

Man United fans opted to change the names of the stadium’s stands to reflect the names of Sunday afternoon’s goalscorers.

On the Wikipedia, two of the stands now bear the names of the two first-half goalscorers as the Don Revie Stand has been altered to the Harry Maguire Stand and the East Stand is now called the Bruno Fernandes Stand.

Meanwhile, the pair that were on the scoresheet for the away side in the second half on Sunday have also been recognised as the Norman Hunter South Stand has been changed to the Fred Stand and the John Charles Stand edited to become the Anthony Elanga Stand.

Those changes will be reverted to be the original names in due course but, until then, Man United fans will take great pleasure from visiting the Wikipedia page.
