Chelsea’s summer rebuild continues as Thomas Tuchel shuffles his squad to challenge next season. The German coach saw his side make a quick start to the last campaign, but they fell off towards the end of it.
He also wasn’t one to foresee the existential crisis the club was plunged into as Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale after 19 years at the helm. Since then, new ownership has taken over, but key players left.
Owner Todd Boehly pledged to back Tuchel in the market and so far he has done just that. Raheem Sterling has made the switch from Manchester City, while Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is set to be the second signing of the summer.

While plenty more additions are expected, a glance at the already existing squad is necessary. The defence and midfield perhaps lack options, but the forward department is stacked with names.
That could see some departures, with Romelu Lukaku already confirmed as one of those that has left on loan to Inter Milan. The likes of Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech continue to be rumoured to leave.
However, it is the latter that could actually join a Premier League rival. According to transfer insider Dean Jones, the 29-year-old may reunite with old Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this summer.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “The Ziyech move to AC Milan has stuttered a little and if that situation drags on let’s not rule out the idea that [Erik] Ten Hag looks to take him to United instead.” It comes as the Red Devils look to continue their own rebuild under the Dutch manager.
Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen have already been confirmed as their first two signings, while defender Lisandro Martinez looks set to snub Arsenal for Old Trafford. With Ziyech on a quest for first-team football, it remains to be seen whether the Blues would actively let him leave for a rival.
