Cristiano Ronaldo has been backed to beat Erling Haaland in the race for next season’s Golden Boot.
Having completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City, Haaland has been tipped to take the Premier League by storm. The Norway international is expected by many to continue his remarkable form in front of goal that has seen him become one of the hottest properties in European football.
He will have plenty of competition to be the league’s top scorer next season. Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son will inevitably be in the running again after sharing last season’s award, while the likes of Harry Kane and new Liverpool signing Darwin Nunez could also be in the mix.

Ronaldo can’t be ruled out either following his successful return to United. Despite United enduring a dismal season, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was a rare bright spark, scoring 24 goals in all competitions, including 18 league goals to leave him behind only Salah and Son in the race for the Golden Boot.
And former United defender Mikael Silvestre has backed his old teammate to go even better this season and finish as the Premier League’s top scorer. The former defender believes he’ll also outperform Haaland in the process.
“Haaland to win the Golden Boot? I would rather see Cristiano win it,” Silvestre said, via the Express. “He was not far off last season with a dysfunctional team so if United works this season, why not? Teach the young pup there is life in the old dog!
“With Harry Kane and Mo Salah we have the best strikers in the Premier League so whoever wins it will deserve it.”
Asked for next season’s title winners, Silvestre added: “I hope not Manchester City, but they have added Haaland to that squad and the disappointment of not going forward with the Champions League will still be there so they will still be hungry for more.
“The league is quite special, because it is a long, long, long season, and I think they will be there. Second is Liverpool. Outside of them it is just if Chelsea can get into the race - or United or even Arsenal and Tottenham, because they finished strong.”
