A man is due to appear in court this evening after a garda was injured while trying to seize a car in Kildare.
A garda was hospitalised with head and upper body injuries after he was dragged by a car who was fleeing officers in Kildare. The incident happened on the R403 close to the Barberstown Roundabout in Straffan at around 11:45pm on Friday, when gardai from Leixlip stopped the car. Officers were in the process of seizing the car under the Road Traffic Act when the driver "fled the scene".
A man in his 20s was arrested on Saturday morning and has since been charged. He will appear before Naas District Court at 7:45pm tonight. Witnesses and drivers with dash-cam footage are being urged to come forward.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí investigating the incident of endangerment that occurred on the R403 close to the Barberstown roundabout in Straffan, Kildare late in the evening of Friday, 26th August, 2022, where a member of An Garda Síochána was injured have charged the arrested man.
"He is due to appear before a special sitting of Naas District Court this evening Sunday 28th August, 2022 at 7.45p.m. Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Straffan/Barberstown Cross areas and the Straffan Village area between 11:40pm and 12:15am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 6667800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. Investigations ongoing."
