Man 'takes Halloween too far' with costume that leaves kids in tears

A masked 'bloodied' man who 'took Halloween too far' as he wandered in front of cars and terrified kids was carted off by police shortly after his creepy behaviour.

The man, who was reported to be wearing a gold mask topped with a black beanie hat, was seen standing on a road near March, Cambridgeshire, on Monday afternoon before walking across a roundabout as a lorry and cars narrowly dodged him.

Shocked onlookers compared the bloke to horror movie villain Michael Myers, and claimed he was 'following kids and people around' at a nearby carpark in the town, and frightening the elderly.

In one haunting clip, the creepy figure can be seen staring in silence with his hands covered in what looks like blood - or fake blood - before going on to turn away and walk slowly towards a busy junction.

And in other footage, which was filmed later, it shows the unmasked man speaking to cops, before appearing to willingly enter the back of their vehicle.

Cambridgeshire police have confirmed that the attended the scene, and gave the anonymous man 'strong words of advice' about his behaviour.

However, some locals have slammed the man with one onlooker saying: "He took it too far.

"He was walking in the middle of the road, stopping traffic, staring at children, parents and the vulnerable.

"He came to a sudden stop to stare at ongoing cars and shortly after got picked up by police without trying to flee.

"He was causing alarm and distress to the public and was presenting himself in a threatening manner."

The witness, who has remained anonymous, continued to say: "Not only is it a waste of their time, it was a waste of his, walking to the roundabout to get picked up and driven back where he walked.

"People are feeling two ways about it - some believe it's right we called the police, others think we're completely wrong."

The video was also shared on social media, but it has left users divided on whether or not the masked bloke had taken his Halloween celebrations too far.

Some users pointed out that it was the 31st October after all, writing: "What did he actually do wrong?"

And another said: "So what's the problem I don't understand? One min calling girls out for going out in nothing and not being scary for Halloween and now there is a lad in the Halloween spirit being scary and he is getting [spoken to by police].

"People need to get a life."

However, others were left completely distressed about what they saw.

One parent commented: "Please don't send your kids out with a mask, you'll end up with the police."

Another wrote said: "Definitely freaked me out. Well done [omitted] for ringing the police."

Police went on to confirm that after they attended the scary incident, they received 'no further incident' reports.

Speaking about this, a Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesman said: "We were called at 2.21pm yesterday (31st October) with reports a man in a mask was disrupting traffic and scaring people in Wisbech Road, March.

"Officers attended the scene and took the man away from the area.

"He was given strong words of advice about his behaviour and no further incidents were reported."
