A 41-year-old man was taken to hospital following an assault in Ayr on Monday night, in what police are calling “an unprovoked attack”.

The 41-year-old man, who was walking along the road at the time, was approached by another man and sustained facial and hand injuries which required hospital treatment.
Officers are now appealing for information and have called on the public to check any dash-cam or private CCTV footage and get in touch if they can assist with their enquiries.
Detective Constable Liam Campbell said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
“If you were in the area at the time and have dash-cam footage that could help or live nearby and have private CCTV then please get in touch.”
Anyone who can assist is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4411 of Monday, 10 July, 2023.
