A man has been rushed to hospital following an assault in Rutherglen on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers from Police Scotland and paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) raced to the scene on Hill Road at around 3.30pm and they remain there while a probe is launched.
As a result of the incident a man has been taken by road ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. It is not known the extent of his injuries at this moment.
SAS also confirmed they have dispatched their trauma team to the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.30pm on Tuesday, 11 July, 2023, police attended the Mill Street area of Rutherglen, following the assault of a man. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Officers are following positive lines of enquiry and a police presence will remain in the area as the investigation continues.
“Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 2113 of 11 July, 2023. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
An SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 15:31 hours today to attend an incident in Rutherglen. We dispatched three ambulances and our trauma team to the scene.
"We transported one male patient to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
