A man had to be rescued from his home this afternoon after a fire broke out. Residents reported a large emergency services presence in the Royton area around 3pm with smoke seen billowing from a property.
The fire service confirmed that they were called to a house fire on Kirkdale Drive around this time, with firefighters from three stations rushing to the scene. It took firefighters two hours to put out the blaze.
A man had to be rescued from the property and was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service.
