Man taken to hospital after being hit by double decker bus

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a double decker bus on a major road in Ashton.

Emergency services were called to Oldham Road shortly before 10pm on Friday (26 August) following reports of a crash involving a double decker bus and a pedestrian.

Police have now confirmed that a man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. It's understand he was the pedestrian involved.

Oldham Road was closed in both directions from Atlas Street to Langham Street for several hours on Friday evening and a cordon was erected whilst police carried out their investigations.

Several police cars and ambulance vehicles could be seen parked near to the scene of the incident until the road reopened at around 1am on Saturday morning (August 27).

A double decker bus could be seen inside the area with damage seen to the body work of the vehicle. It's understood the driver of the bus stayed at the scene to help police with their enquiries.

In a statement, GMP said: "On Friday 26 August 2022, officers were called to reports of an incident involving a bus and a pedestrian on Oldham Road in Manchester at 21.54 hrs.

"A man was taken to hospital with injuries that weren’t thought to be life-threatening. The road was closed in both directions whilst the bus was recovered and re-opened around 1am."
