A man is in a serious condition after a 'nasty' early morning attack.
At around 2am on Friday, May 13, police officers spotted a member of the public helping an injured man close to the Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street, Southport. It has been reported that the man was involved in a verbal altercation before being assaulted by a man and woman who fled the scene.
Paramedics made their way to the town centre before the injured man was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the assault, or with any information is asked to contact Merseyside Police.

Detective Inspector James Halpin said: “This was a nasty assault which left a man injured. Such violence will not be tolerated on our streets and we are working to find the people responsible.
“If you were in the Lord Street area in the early hours of this morning and witnessed the assault then please get in touch. Similarly, if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage, please review it and let us know if you see anything.
“All information, however insignificant it may seem, could be vital to our enquiries. Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, please tell us what you know and we will take action.”
