Man 'struggling with alcohol issues' punched disabled person to the ground

An alcoholic who felled a disabled man with a single blow has been spared immediate jail. Kareem Thomas was heard having a dispute in the street with Lee Goodwin, a court was told.

He was captured on camera punching Mr Goodwin on the chin, causing him to fall back onto the road. Mr Goodwin was left with injuries to his chin and the back of his head as well as acute rib fractures.

Thomas, 31, whose address was given as Shoeburyness in Southend-on-Sea, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm after the offence in Weston-super-Mare in September 2019. He appeared for sentence at Bristol Crown Court today. (March 29)
