Man stabbed ex-partner with broken bottle because he thought she had taken his Valium

A man throttled his ex-partner then stabbed her with a broken bottle after accusing her of taking his Valium tablets, a court has heard. Andrew Davison lost his temper with his former girlfriend and attacked her in her flat in Swansea. The 32-year-old later "calmed down" when he found - and took - his misplaced pills.

Swansea Crown Court heard drugs have "overwhelmed" the defendant's life. Sian Cutter, prosecuting, said Davison and the victim had been in an "on-off" relationship for round nine months when the assault took place in May this year.

She said the couple were not together at the time but the defendant was at his ex’s flat in the Townhill area of Swansea when he became "agitated" because he could not find his Valium tablets, and began accusing her of taking them while he had been asleep.
