Officers say the suspects are described as being white, in their late teens or early twenties. At the time of the incident they were wearing dark coloured sportswear - one male also had a distinctive thunderbolt design t-shirt.

Detective constable Will Lloyd, of Wigan’s criminal investigation department, said: "Our investigation has led us to believe that this was a completely unprovoked assault. We will not tolerate the use of this level of violence in our communities which is why it is so important we bring those responsible to face justice.

"Anyone with information or images/ footage which show a group of males matching this description in the area at the time should share it with us directly or via Crimestoppers." GMP Wigan CID can be contacted via 0161 856 7094 quoting 129 13/06/22. Crimestoppers can be contacted, anonymously, via 0800 555 111.
