Man spends £2,000 on billboard saying 'Best Indian you'll takeaway' in search for wife

Instead of spending hours swiping through dating apps one man has taken a novel approach to finding love, by renting out a massive billboard to advertise himself as husband material in front of thousands of commuters.

Jeevan Bhachu, 31, from Ealing, is hoping to find Mrs Right after he plastered his face on a 20-foot billboard in Oxford Circus tube station. Jeevan is pictured looking dapper in a daring pink suit alongside his signiture pickup line: "Best Indian you'll takeaway".

Interested parties are directed to his website, findjeevanawife.com, where they're asked supply information about their hobbies and interests along with a photo of themselves.

His £2,000 advertising campaign, set to run for two weeks, launched on Thursday (March 3) but his opening day was hampered by Tube strikes, meaning he got no applicants on launch day.

Jeevan told MyLondon : "It's going well, I've had about 50 [applicants] so far. Some are genuine, some not so genuine. I've got to sort through them all and see if anyone catches my eye."

On his website, Jeevan says: "Since Covid, it's been tough to get yourself out there. Apps are declining and I'm more interested in meeting up than countless texting and swiping. So it's time to do something more creative!

"I'm open to any race for my ideal partner. Someone who is family orientated, humble, and wants to make the most of life. Appreciating humour and not taking life too seriously is key.

"Having a good personality is important, with a positive and modern mindset (I am far from a traditionalist)."

Jeevan, who DJs in his spare time, said he was inspired by the success of a man named Malik, who put up huge adverts of himself begging suitors to save him from an arranged marriage.

Malik received thousands of applications from women wanting to get to know him, and Jeevan is hoping he can have similar success.

He said: "I've been on Tinder and I've been Bumble. I think I'll get a broader crowd from this billboard, maybe older people who don't use apps. Even if I get one match that's a success for me."

Depending on how it goes, Jeevan is thinking of expanding the campaign to Kings Cross or other stations across London.

When asked if he's attached to a PR or dating company, Jeevan said he isn't and that this is something he's done off his own back.
