Man shares 'magic' hack for peeling garlic in seconds using just microwave

For those of us who love to cook, garlic is often a key ingredient in adding extra depth and flavour to dishes.

From creamy pasta dishes to classic garlic bread, it's used so widely in our kitchens - but when it comes to preparation, it can be difficult.

Peeling the garlic is something that many people struggle with, and it can put people off from getting to the flavoursome cloves inside. Often it just ends up in a mess, with pieces of garlic skin likely to be found all over your kitchen afterwards.

But one man has shared a foolproof hack that means you're able to peel garlic within just 20 seconds, with no mess involved and minimal clean-up needed.

Luke Kelly on TikTok has harnessed over 16,000 likes on his videos, which are mainly about "insane" food hacks.

And this particular garlic-peeling clip has got over 127,000 views since it was posted earlier in the week - and people are seriously impressed.

Instead of messing around with a knife and trying to cut out and peel individual cloves, Luke suggests working with the garlic as a whole - and slicing the root off the bulb.

In the video, he explained: "Save the root - you can use it for other things, stocks and things like that.

"Now we've got a bulb of garlic with the root cut off. What we need to do is take it over to the microwave."

He then suggested popping the garlic in, and microwaving it for around 20-25 seconds "to let the magic happen".

Once the the time is up, all you need to do is gently push and squeeze the bulb of garlic and all the cloves are seen to come out perfectly peeled and ready for use.

People in the video's comments were thankful to Luke for sharing his tip, and were eager to try it themselves.

One person raved: "Love this! I am gonna try it for sure!"

While another said: "Just tried it... it works!"

Although most people were full of praise for the hack, some were concerned about the smell that may linger in the microwave afterwards.

One person joked: "Legends say his microwave still reeks to this very day."

But another helpful commenter suggested: "Microwave a sliced lemon and it will get rid of the garlic smell."
