Man shares Christmas blunder after brother uses £62 wallpaper to wrap gifts

One man has recounted a hilarious festive ordeal after his brother used his mum's rather expensive decoration to wrap his presents.

For many, wrapping gifts is an enjoyable festive task, but it can leave others scrambling as they rush to cover presents in time for Christmas Eve.

In one major blunder, a man's last minute attempt ignited a "family argument" after he mistook his mum's ream of £62 wallpaper for gift wrapping. To make things even more awkward, he not only used the entire roll but he also wrapped his own mother's gifts in her fancy paper.

Taking to Twitter to share the predicament, user @Danielobo148 wrote: "My brother used, as wrapping paper, the €70 wallpaper that Mum had bought to redecorate rooms. Cannot cope ahahah. First Christmas argument underway."

Readers were left divided on who to side with, with many offering condolences to the matriarch of the family.

One response read: "Thoughts and prayers to your Mum. To the gallows with your brother!"

Another pointed out how bittersweet opening presents must have been for her: "Oh my god, the mixed emotions she'll have unwrapping her gift …"

Others were confused at how such a mix up could occur, highlighting that both papers have different textures.

One perplexed comment queried: "Wallpaper feels 100% different then wrapping paper, how do you confuse them?"

Some more optimistic people complimented what a good job he did, even if it was accidental "The paper is beautiful! Those will be the prettiest presents under the tree. What to do about your brother - many of us have one like this."

However, many users have also expressed sympathy for his brother and are "praying for him".

One Tweeter joked: "Let us know when the funeral is."

While Christmas is a big day for families, it doesn't mean that things can't go wrong. While this may be a light hearted festive folly, there are some mishaps which can ruin the entire day.

Many families were "left in tears" this Christmas after their turkeys turned out to be rotten and inedible. Many of the birds bought at major chains were discovered to be gone off on Christmas Eve.

Shoppers took to social media to share their anger over the black and blue poultry, with some saying that the unusable meat had ruined their Christmas.
