Two men were arrested after a man reported being attacked and sexually assaulted on his way home from a night out.
The 27-year-old victim was found with facial injuries in the car park of Pure Gym, on Ormskirk Road in Aintree, by a member of staff at around 5.45am on Sunday, July 31. Merseyside Police officers attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.
It is not believed the victim or attacker had been into the gym or that the alleged offence occurred inside the building.

The man was discharged from hospital later that day and is assisting with the police investigation. It is understood that he reported meeting the alleged attacker in the Scotland Road area while he walked home from a night out in Liverpool city centre.
Since the man was found two suspects, aged 34 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and sexual assault. Both were questioned and then released on bail pending further enquiries.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "At around 5.45am on Sunday 31 July, it was reported that a man was found in a car park on Ormskirk Road with injuries to his face and that he had been sexually assaulted by another man.
"Officers attended and an ambulance took the 27-year-old victim to hospital to receive for treatment for his injuries. He was discharged from hospital later that day and is assisting police with their enquiries."
