A man is in a serious condition in hospital in Co Donegal after his van went out of control early this morning.

Gardai have sealed off both ends of the street and traffic is being diverted.

Nobody else was injured in the early morning incident on what is normally a very busy road in the heart of the town.

A Garda forensics team is due to arrive on scene shortly in a bid to determine what caused the crash.

The victim was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed "One male, aged in his 60s, was conveyed to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment to injuries which are believed to be serious."
