Man sentenced for organizing murder of Tupac Shakur 30 years later

  • Duane "Keffe D" Davis has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for organizing the 1996 fatal shooting of rap icon Tupac Shakur .
  • The 63-year-old former gang leader was convicted in August of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and remains the only person ever charged in connection with the crime.
  • The murder remained unsolved for decades until Davis detailed his involvement in the Las Vegas drive-by shooting in media interviews and a 2019 memoir.
  • Prosecutors argued Davis orchestrated the fatal ambush in retaliation for a feud involving his nephew, while the defense announced plans to appeal over the delay in bringing charges.
  • Shakur was 25 years old when he was fatally shot while riding in a car driven by music executive Marion "Suge" Knight.
