A former Leeds chef, who specialised in French cuisine, spoke of how “soul destroying” it has been to sit outside Greggs begging for food ever since his wife died under tragic circumstances.
Father-of-one Richie Nicholson, 40, has been sitting outside a Leeds city centre Greggs in Kirkgate, just a stone’s throw away from the market. He’s at a loss of what else to do with himself, having “nowhere else to go and nothing else to do”
Greggs he’s decided was the best place to beg as in the age of contactless payments, he’s discovered not many people carry loose change. But if he’s by the chain pastry shop, every now and again someone without change will grab him a pasty or a sandwich on card.
