A burglar and drug dealer was rumbled as he lay in a hospital bed after being shot in the legs.
Curtis Byrne's secret life of crime was exposed when police became suspicious of his behaviour as he recovered from injuries sustained in the terrifying attack. Messages, videos, screenshots and notes which were subsequently found on his phone then linked him to a whole host of offences.
Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, that officers attended Aintree Hospital on December 5 last year in order to obtain a statement from the patient after he had been the victim of a shooting two days previously. Byrne, of Park Road South in Birkenhead, was seriously injured when a gunman opened fire on Orrets Meadow Road on the Woodchurch Estate, Wirral, shortly after 8pm on Saturday, December 3.
