Man's body pulled from canal amid huge emergency services response

The body of a man has been recovered from a stretch of the Manchester Ship Canal near to a toll bridge, the fire service has confirmed.

The incident on Saturday afternoon sparked a huge emergency services response around Warburton Toll Bridge, near Cadishead.

Firefighters were called at around 1.45pm today after multiple reports of a person in the water. Fire crews then assisted police and paramedics in retrieving a body.
