Man's body found near Scots primary school as police probe death

The body of a man has been recovered close to the grounds of a Scots primary school.

Police were called to Whitedalehead Road, near Whitedale Primary School in Whitburn, Bathgate, at 6.55am this morning.

Forensic offers have been pictured scouring the scene, which is close to a block of flats on the West Lothian road.

Officers have confirmed that the death was sudden and that they are treating the incident as unexplained.

A cordon has been erected in the meantime as CID continue with the ongoing investigation.

Inquires to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 6.55am on Thursday, March 17, police were called to the Whitedalehead Road area of Whitburn, following a report of the sudden death of a man.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.”
