Police are hunting two men wanted in connection with a serious assault in a West Dunbartonshire village. Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports that a 39-year-old man had suffered a serious head injury in Renton at around 9.20pm on Tuesday, July 12.
The man was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment. Police believe that the incident, which took place outside the Scotmid store on the village's main street, may have been random.
The suspects police wish to speak to are described as being in their 60s, of medium build with shaved hair and wearing sunglasses.
One was wearing a black t-shirt with a yellow logo and carrying a black rucksack and light-coloured carrier bag. The other man wore a white t-shirt, black shorts and had a lanyard around his neck. He had a white carrier bag.
They are believed to have fled in the direction of Renton train station. Officers are asking anyone who could assist in their investigation to get in contact by phoning 101 and quoting '3655 of Tuesday, 12 July.'
Detective Constable Aislinn MacLeod, of Clydebank CID, said: “This appears to have been a random attack and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.
“In particular we would like to speak to the two men described and if anyone knows them, or the men themselves see this appeal, then please get in touch.
“The area was busy at the time with people in the store so if you saw anything, or were driving in the area and have dash-cam that could help with our investigation, then please contact us.”
