A man was rushed to hospital and a van was found on fire when emergency services attended an incident in Old Swan on Wednesday (April 27) evening.
Merseyside Police received a report of an injured man on Ashton Street, Old Swan at around 8.25pm yesterday. It was also reported that a white Transit van and two males on pedal bikes were seen on the street, travelling in the direction of Brookland Road West.
At around 8.45pm a white Transit van was located on fire on Doric Road. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire.

Police attended and located the injured man, who reported he had been assaulted. He sustained a wound to his back and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was later discharged from hospital.
Officers remain on Ashton Street and Doric Road while CCTV, forensic and house-to-house enquiries are carried out to establish the full circumstances of what happened. Photographs taken at the scene today showed a police cordon in force outside an address, while officers investigated. A car remained inside the cordon.
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of an incident on Ashton Street yesterday evening, which left a man injured. If you were in Old Swan area yesterday evening and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please come forward and let us know.
“Similarly if you were driving in the area around Ashton Street and Doric Road and have dashcam footage then please review it and let us know if you see anything. We believe those in the van and on bikes may be connected to the assault, and would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who has footage of them near the scene.
“Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, please tell us know you know to help us keep our streets safer.”
