Man rushed to hospital after 'slashing' in Scots village as police launch probe

A man has been rushed to hospital after a horror blade attack in a Scots village on Sunday night.

Cops raced to West Main Street in Harthill, North Lanarkshire, at around 5.45pm following reports of a serious assault.

A 30-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment to his injuries.

It is understood he was slashed in the incident.

He has since been released from hospital.

Police are now probing the incident, with officers confirming they are following a "positive line of enquiry".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.45pm on Sunday, 3 April, officers attended West Main Street, Harthill, following a serious assault.

"A 30-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw.

"He has since been released following treatment.

"Officers are following a positive line of enquiry."
