Cops have launched a probe after a man was allegedly stabbed in Edinburgh in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were alerted to the incident at around 2:20am this morning, January 23, in the Ferniehill Drive area of Gilmerton in the city.
Upon arrival cops discovered a 30-year old man who had been stabbed and he was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but no details are known on his condition at this stage.
A local bus operator announced earlier that Old Dalkeith Road had been shut down afterwards with traffic diverted.
Police Scotland confirmed an investigation has been launched into the incident.
A spokesperson said: “Around 2.20am on Monday, 23 January, we were called to a report of a man having been seriously attacked in the Ferniehill Drive area of Gilmerton, Edinburgh.
“A 30-year-old man has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
“Enquiries are ongoing."
