A police investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in a Salford churchyard this evening. Crime scene investigators and detectives descended on the scene in the grounds of St Mary's Church in Eccles town centre.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 7.25pm tonight (June 14) where a man was reportedly attacked and found on a footpath cutting across the churchyard. The entirety of the church and the churchyard was cordoned off as officers carried out enquiries.
Clothes and medical equipment, along with a bike, were seen in the aftermath of the incident.. Crime scene investigators, detectives from the criminal investigation department, and a host of officers surrounded the cordon, where they continue to hunt for information.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police told the Manchester Evening News : "At around 7.25pm on 14/06/22, police were called a report of a male stabbed on Church Street, Eccles. Officers have attended and established that a male had sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to hospital.
"A full investigation is now being conducted.

The knife attack comes just over a week after another in the same location. A man has appeared in court yesterday (June 13) accused of slashing a man across the face with a knife in the Salford churchyard. Police say the victim, 31, needed 20 stitches following the alleged attack in the grounds.
Anthony Leather, 46, of Southway, Eccles, appeared at Manchester magistrates' court on Monday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife. The case was adjourned until July 18 at Manchester Crown Court. Leather was remanded in custody.
That alleged attack took place at 5.45pm on Monday, June 6.
