A man who was seriously injured after being hit by a car near a busy roundabout remains in hospital.
The man, in his 60s, was hit by a black Volvo on North Road near the YMCA building in St Helens town centre. Merseyside Police attended the scene at around 9.10pm on Sunday, January 29 and the man was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Officers later confirmed the man suffered a serious head injury and remains in hospital. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed the man's condition is "critical but stable".

Merseyside Police said the driver of the car stopped at the scene and assisted police with the investigation. The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information following a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car in St Helens on Sunday, January 29. At around 9.10pm, we received a report of a collision involving a black Volvo and a man in his 60s on North Road, near the YMCA building.
"The man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and is receiving treatment. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries. We are in the early stages of investigating this collision and are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage which may assist our ongoing enquiries."
