Man pushed elderly person as he barged into home and stole cash and phone

Police are appealing for information after a man allegedly forced his way into an elderly person’s home and ransacked the property. The man, aged in his 80s, was alone in his home in Audley Drive, Beeston, when he heard a knock on his front door and front window at around 6.15pm on Wednesday, November 23.

When he opened the door a man in a high-visibility jacket barged through the door, Nottinghamshire Police said. The offender pushed the victim on to a sofa and demanded to know where his money was.

He carried out an search of the living room before forcing the victim up the stairs where he again rifled through the man’s property. The burglar fled through the front door of the property after stealing cash and a mobile phone.

Detective Sergeant Rob Palethorpe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This must have been extremely upsetting for the victim and we are determined to find the man responsible.

“Anyone who targets elderly or vulnerable victims and subjects them to frightening incidents like this can expect a robust response from the force. We have two dedicated burglary teams in the county, investigating incidents like this around the clock, as we understand the impact these crimes can have on victims.

“It is important that anyone with any information, dash-cam or CCTV footage which could help with our inquiries gets in touch immediately. If you were in the area at around this time, get in touch and speak to an officer.”

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 626 of 23 November 2022, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
