A MAN has been killed in a fatal crash on the A9.
The trunk road, which connects Inverness and the far north to Perth and the Central Belt, was closed for much of Monday after a road traffic incident near Dunkeld.
Police were called at around 10.25am, and the road reopened after an investigation into the crash some six hours later, at 4.30pm.
Now, officers have confirmed that there was a “one-vehicle crash on the southbound carriageway” in which a 62-year-old man died.
“Emergency services attended and the 62-year-old male driver of the white Toyota Hilux was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed,” a spokesperson for the force said.
Sergeant David Farr added: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle prior to the crash to get in contact with officers.
“I would also ask those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to please review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
