A man precariously balanced on a 40ft in a brave effort to save a parrot.
Video footage captured the dramatic moment Clint Shearer scaled the pitched roof with no safety equipment in order to save Jenson the African grey parrot.
The 43-year-old bravely balanced on the top of the care home after clambering through a service hatch and threw a blanket over the bird before snatching him.
His rescue attempts, however, were not appreciated by the bird and he only received bites as thanks.
The parrot, called Jenson, had been staying with Mr Shearer's cousin, Natalie Clark, at her home in Andover, Hants, when the bird escaped out of a back door which had been left open momentarily.
Mrs Clark, 34, had volunteered her home for the Safehaven Parrot Refuge and was elated to be reunited with the bird.
The mother of two had been caring for Jenson for the past three months before he made his escape and was lost for a full day before being rescued.
She shared an appeal on local Facebook groups in the area and was contacted by people who had seen the bird in their gardens.
After spotting him in a tree Ms Clark used Jenson's female friend, another African grey parrot named Congo, to lure him down - which was to no avail.
Jenson was later spotted again on the roof of the Ashbourne Court Care Home, where Mr Shearer fearlessly climbed onto the roof armed with nothing but a blanket, and took the parrot.
But Clint explained that scaling the roof was all in a day's work, saying: "I work in property maintenance and am up on roofs all the time, so I wasn't really scared at all.
"I went through a service hatch around the back, threw the blanket over him and grabbed him.
"He bit me a few times but it didn't really hurt - I've got my own parrot so I'm used to that as well."
Recalling watching the incident on the roof unfold, Mrs Clark, who runs her own makeup company called NKL Permanent Makeup Hampshire, said: "Oh my god, I had my heart in my mouth.
"It was so high up - probably about 40ft.
"Clint climbed up there and walked straight across the ridge and got this blanket over him.
"Then he got bitten as well because Jenson was obviously scared. He still managed not to fall off that roof - how, I really don't know."
Mrs Clark added that Jenson seemed content with being back safe at her home following his adventure, and says she's now decided to permanently house the bird.
"He's got a few scrapes on him, but other than that, he seems absolutely fine," she said.
"I was just safe-housing Jenson, but I have absolutely fallen in love with him and his silly behaviour.
"Now, I can't be without him - so I'm applying to become Jenson's forever bird mummy."
