Man pours boiling water over partner and throws kettle at her
A woman was in agony after her drunken partner poured a kettle of boiling water over her.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Anthony Byrne, 55, was in a relationship with his victim for three years at the time of the offence on March 8 this year. On the night of the attack his victim asked Byrne for the key to her house back due to his drinking.
He threw the key at her, she picked it up and went into the kitchen, but he followed and pushed her. He then picked up the kettle, which he knew had boiling water inside because she had told him so, and poured it on her, said Paul Blasbery, prosecuting.

Fortunately she turned her face and the water went on her back, left side of her neck and head. Byrne then threw the empty kettle at her head.
She went upstairs to pour cold water on her burns and asked him to leave which he did. He returned two hours later asking for his clothes and inhaler and showed no concern for what he did.
The court was told he could not remember what happened. Mr Blasbery said his victim did not need surgery and the scar has started to fade.

Tributes to 'beautiful' teen who had 'bright future ahead of her'
Tributes have flooded in for a teenager who was "drastically let down" by professionals.
Katie Wilkins was 14 when she died on July 31, 2020 at Alder Hey Children's Hospital following a short battle with a rare form of leukaemia. An inquest was held on Monday, May 23 at Liverpool Gerard Majella Courthouse to determine why the teenager, of Runcorn Road in Warrington, died.
Speaking to the court, mum Jeanette Whitfield, paid tribute to her "beautiful" daughter.

In a heart-breaking statement read out to the inquest Katie was described as lighting up "every room she entered with her witty humour and big smile." The statement added: "Anyone who knew Katie knew she had the biggest heart. She was always putting her friends and family before herself."
The Bridgewater High School student had a real love for horse riding as "the more challenging the horse the better." The teen would ride whether in "hail rain or snow" as it was "always one of her happiest hours."
The statement added: "She filled the home with laughter and mischief. She also had a very sensitive side to her nature."

Spain, Greece, France and Turkey latest travel rules ahead of half term
With half term and summer holidays on their way, many of us are planning trips abroad this year.
All covid travel rules were drawn to a close in the UK in March, and many other nations have also eased restrictions in recent weeks and months. There are now dozens of countries Brits can travel to without being vaccinated or having to take a test.
After so much time at home, many of us are clearly keen to get away. Airlines such as Jet2, TUI and Ryanair have already said bookings for places such as Spain and the Canary Islands have increased over the past few months.

But for those of us who manage to go abroad, what are the rules? Do we need to show vaccination proof or take a test?
Will we still have to wear masks, or socially distance? As has been the case previously, the restrictions are slightly different depending on your destination.
Greece recently relaxed all of its covid rules. As of May 1, travellers arriving from the UK do not need to show a vaccine certificate or proof of a negative test any more. Unvaccinated visitors are also able to enter the country without testing prior to travel.
