A man allegedly held a knife to his partner's throat, choked and threatened to kill her, and punched her in the face multiple times.
The 36-year-old, who has not been named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, September 11, where he did not apply for bail.
The man, who was on parole at the time of the alleged offending, is yet to enter pleas to two counts of aggravated reckless threat to inflict grievous bodily harm, and one count of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Police allege the man held a knife to the woman's throat and threatened to kill her at a house in Pearce about 8.35pm on Thursday.
He is said to have then fled the place.
Officers arrived shortly after and conducted patrols of the surrounding area but were unable to locate the man.
Later that evening, the man allegedly returned to the place and forced his way into his partner's bedroom.
Police will allege he then punched the woman in the face multiple times, choked her and again held a knife to her throat while threatening to kill her before leaving the residence.
The alleged assault was reported to police, and officers arrested the man nearby after he allegedly attempted to flee.
The man's case will return to court in October.
