A MAN granted bail after allegedly threatening a woman with a gun at Waratah West in April has been charged again, this time after another raid allegedly uncovered a number of firearms and weapons.
Aydan Keith Dunn, 32, appeared in a bail division court on Friday in handcuffs after he was charged with 15 offences, the third time he had been arrested over domestic violence and firearms this year.
The Newcastle Herald reported in April that Dunn had been charged with intimidating a woman with a firearm before he was allegedly found with a stash of weapons at a home in Parkhill Parade.
The charges in April followed an earlier arrest in January, when Dunn was charged with an armed domestic violence-related break-in and intimidation.
He was granted bail in January, and despite being accused of threatening a 19-year-old woman with a gun and the alleged weapons stash, he was again given bail in April on a number of conditions, including reporting to police, not contacting witnesses and a $2000 surety.
He has since pleaded not guilty to 13 charges relating to the alleged firearm threats and stash of weapons allegedly found in April and will face a hearing in Newcastle Local Court in November.
Newcastle City police said they launched an investigation in early April after reports Dunn had allegedly threatened a 19-year-old woman with a firearm.
Police said Dunn and the woman knew each other.
Following inquiries, Newcastle police, the Tactical Operations Unit, police negotiators and highway patrol officers raided a house at Parkhill Parade, Waratah West about 9am on April 10.
During the search, police allegedly uncovered a loaded speargun, an extendable baton, four gel blasters, a rifle, firearm parts and an amount of ammunition.
Police also located and seized an allegedly stolen vehicle.
But despite already being on bail, Dunn's solicitor Claire Coelho was able to show cause as to why his continued detention was not justified and he was released.
He has not entered any pleas in relation to the domestic violence-related aggravated break and enter, intimidation and damaging property and that matter is next in court on October 7.
Dunn had been on bail until Thursday, when a police raid allegedly uncovered more weapons and firearms.
He was charged with 15 offences, including four counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing an unregistered pistol and possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm.
Dunn, who was represented by solicitor Kristy Winter, did not apply for bail on Friday and it was revoked, a judge noting he had also breached his bail by recently failing to report to police before the cut-off time of 8pm.
The fresh matters were adjourned to Newcastle Local Court next week, while the hearing will run in November and Dunn will ultimately face the domestic violence-related break-in charges in Newcastle District Court, likely next year.
