A 22-year-old man who was found dead and dumped in a field in Co Meath has been named as Mahamud Ilyas.
Gardai have launched a major investigation after Mahamud's remains were discovered in a field in rural Co Meath on Saturday afternoon. A post mortem examination revealed that the young man, who lived in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, had been violently beaten to death.
His body was found wrapped in cloth-like material in a field at Belgree Lane, Kilbride on Saturday afternoon. However investigators believe Mahamud was murdered elsewhere, his body then driven out there and dumped beside trees.
