A man has suffered a broken jaw after being attacked while leaving a nightclub in Newcastle city centre.
It was reported that, between midnight and 5am on May 5, a 47-year-old man had been leaving Switch nightclub on Scotswood Road, when he was approached by a man he did not know. He was punched in the face and the culprit fled the scene
The victim suffered swelling and bruising to the left cheek and was taken to hospital where it was later established he had broken his jaw. Police investigating the assault have now issued an appeal for witnesses.

An investigation was launched and officers from Northumbria Police have already carried out a number of inquiries, including a review of CCTV.
Today (Monday) they have issued a description of two males who were in the area at the time and could have information which can assist.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "They are both described as white males, around 5ft 10in tall and thought to be between 18 and 21 years old.
"One had very short, curly blond hair and was wearing a white T-shirt with a large gold necklace. The other had short brown hair."
