Man kills wife over returning home, caught

NEW DELHI: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband over a petty issue in outer north Delhi’s Alipur on Friday. The accused has been arrested.

The deceased was a native of Jharkhand and lived with her 35-year-old husband Janm Jai Singh in Ambala. He works at a poultry farm.

Police said that the couple arrived at their relative’s house in Alipur late Thursday night to pick up their daughter who had been staying there for the past 15 days. The wife insisted that they stay the night at the relative’s house and travel back the next day. Singh, however, got angry and a scuffle started between the couple. “The accused in a fit of anger thrashed his wife and smashed her face on the floor. When she became unconscious, he slept near her. When Singh and the relatives found her unconscious the next morning, they took her to a hospital where she was declared dead,” an officer said.

DCP Brijendra Kumar Yadav said they received information from the hospital about the incident and arrested the accused. It is being probed whether he was drunk at the time of the incident.
