Police are investigating an incident in Bedminster last night (August 25) in which a man reportedly kicked a car after confronting a woman, then assaulted a moped driver who tried to intervene. The disturbance took place on North Street at around 10pm on Thursday, August 25.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “We were called just after 10pm last night (Thursday 25 August) with a member of the public reporting an unknown man had kicked a car parked in North Street, Bedminster.
“The man, who was involved in a confrontation with a woman, proceeded to assault a moped rider who tried to intervene. He then made off from the scene when challenged by other members of the public.”

A local resident, who declined to be named, called the incident – which also involved workers from a local takeaway – “scary”. “This fella started having a go at his girlfriend and just lost the plot – he was so angry,” said the eyewitness.
“He was walking up North Street and started kicking the c**p out of a random car – really badly damaged it up the passenger side. Then he carried on up the road and crossed it by the Co-op.”
A moped rider stopped to let the man cross, only to be pushed off his bike and attacked, the eyewitness reported. “But the moped rider fought back and loads of staff and delivery riders came running out of Oowee Burger to defend him and they chased [his attacker] up the road,” she said.
“It was scary to see someone just lose it and get so filled with rage that they started being violent to cars and passers-by. I really fear for his girlfriend if that’s what he’s like.”
She added: “There’s no place in Bedminster for this kind of toxic masculinity. Men like him need to learn to control themselves.
"Luckily he started on someone prepared and able to defend themselves, and with a group of brave people nearby prepared to step in.”
Officers are trying to identify the man, urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who might have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to call 101 giving reference number 5222205666.
