A man jailed for a fatal stabbing in Glasgow has died behind bars.
Kristopher Marshall passed away in HMP Shotts in North Lanarkshire on Thursday, December 12.
The 41-year-old was locked up for a horrific fatal stabbing in 2009.
Marshall, formerly of Queen Mary Street in Bridgeton, wounded his victim in the heart in a street attack in Glasgow in March of that year after the pair had fought the previous day.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard both Marshall and the victim, Andrew Sands, carried knives.
Following the tragic incident, the Crown accepted Marshall's guilty plea to a charge of culpable homicide.
Meanwhile, during his sentencing, the judge condemned the "tragic consequences of carrying knives".
Following his death, the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) has confirmed Police Scotland has been advised of Marshall's death.
The matter has also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and a Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course.
A spokesperson for the SPS said: “Every death, whether in prison custody or in our communities, is a tragedy for all those who knew and supported the individual.
“Following the death of someone in our care, Police Scotland are advised, and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
"Fatal Accident Inquiries are held in due course.”
