A man has been jailed for punching his partner and damaging her home. Daniel Jessop, of Mantle Close, Clevedon, conceded having an "on and off" relationship with the woman, which he said could be argumentative and volatile.
In November last year he turned up at her home in Weston-super-Mare and, after a row, he hit her and damaged a door and bed after she barricaded herself into a room. Jessop, 27, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage and producing cannabis.
The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair KC handed him a nine months prison sentence. He told Jessop: "Plainly you did see red that morning. There are quite a number of injuries she ended up with one way or another."

Jessop was ordered to pay the complainant £300 compensation. He was handed a three-year restraining order banning him from all contact with her, unless via a solicitor or third party, and banning him from attending her address.
Ehsanul Oarith, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court Jessop attended the woman's home and she said he appeared under the influence of nitrous oxide. Mr Oarith said the pair argued before Jessop punched the complainant and she tried to barricade herself in a room before Jessop forced his way in, damaging a door and bed. Police were called in and found the distressed complainant as well as 12 cannabis plants being grown at the premises.
The court heard Jessop handed himself in to Bridgwater Police Station and, in interview, admitted punching her. He accepted growing cannabis plants for personal use.
The woman wrote an impact statement in which she said she was left "very shaken up" by the assault and left out of pocket. She stated she no longer felt safe in her home and feared Jessop would return.
Lana Murphy, defending, said: "He accepts the relationship was volatile, argumentative and on and off. He often stayed at the address, she would let him in."
Miss Murphy told the court her client accepted following the woman to a room and damaging a door and bed in the process of trying to gain entry. She told the court: "He accepts he went too far. He has regret and he is appalled by his actions."
