A gun has been fired by police officers in Stonehaven, after armed officers locked down a street following reports of a 'disturbance'.
Officers were called to Hunter Place in the town at 12.40pm on Monday afternoon. A 31-year-old man has been arrested and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.
Police say that officers discharged a firearm during the incident and a taser was also deployed. Enquiries remain ongoing.
A picture from the scene earlier showed a number of first response vehicles lining the street with a cordon put in place.
Chief Superintendent Kate Stephen said: “Officers will be in the area as enquiries are carried out. I want to reassure the public that this was a contained incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
"Anyone with any concerns or information should speak to officers who will remain in the area this evening, or contact police via 101.”
