Man charged with murder after woman found at Nollamara house dies from serious injuries

Police have charged a 40-year-old man with murder after the death of a woman who was found seriously injured in Perth's northern suburbs last night.

WA Police and St John Ambulance were called to a house on Monterey Street in Nollamara about 10:30pm where they found the 26-year-old woman hurt.

She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where she died this morning.

Police said the canine section unit had attended the scene and helped find a man hiding at the front of a neighbouring property.

They said the 40-year-old man, who was known to the woman, had been charged with one count of murder and would appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Family, emergency services unable to save woman

Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said it was a very violent and tragic incident.

"Police now have a 40-year-old man, who we located nearby last night.

"The police canine squad assisted in the arrest of a man. We're now speaking with him, he's in custody."

Police have urged anyone with information or who saw or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity of Monterey Street between 9:30pm and 11:00pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers.
