Man in hospital with serious injuries after early morning crash in Bristol city centre

A man has been taken to hospital seriously injured after an incident in Bristol early this morning.

Police were called to St Augustine’s Parade near College Green at around 3.45am after a collision between a pedestrian and a car.

The pedestrian was taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment after sustaining a serious head injury.

Speaking to Bristol Live, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "At 3.45am this morning we were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on St Augustine’s Parade in Bristol.

"The pedestrian, a man, was taken to Southmead Hospital with a serious head injury.

"The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. A police cordon is in place as officers continue to examine the area."

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact them.

The collision affected the stretch of road between College Green and St Mary on the Quay Church, causing traffic to be impacted between the cathedral and The Bearpit.

Road users are advised that traffic may still be affected while officers continue to examine the area today.
