A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash which closed a busy Penarth road for several hours on New Year's Day. Emergency services were called following a collision on the A4055 between Penarth Road and the Merrie Harrier pub at around 7pm on January 1.
Police said the collision involved a male pedestrian and a Lexus car and that the pedestrian, aged 46, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with injuries described as life-threatening. He remains in hospital.
The road remained closed for several hours after the incident and live traffic websites Inrix and the AA showed heavy congestion in the area on Sunday night.
