A man was taken to hospital with a back injury after a three vehicle smash.
Emergency services were called to Marian Square at 2.55pm on Tuesday, January 24, following reports of a crash on the road. Once Merseyside Police officers arrived at the scene a short time later, they found three vehicles, a red Ford Focus, a white people carrier and an orange Citroen C3 had collided.
Police requested assistance from Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and two fire engines and a search and rescue team arrived at 3.05pm. All three vehicles were on four wheels when firefighters arrived at the scene and they got to work straight away preparing to remove people from the Focus and people carrier.

All casualties were conscious and breathing when emergency services attended and were removed from the vehicles. The driver of the people carrier was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service with a none life-threatening injury to his back.
The three other casualties were not believed to be seriously injured. Marian Square is closed in one direction while police wait for the vehicles to be recovered.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: "Fire crews were called to Marian Square in Netherton this afternoon after reports of a Road Traffic Collision (RTC). Crews were alerted at 3.02pm and on scene at 3.05pm, with two fire engines and the search and rescue team in attendance.
"Crews arrived to find an RTC involving two vehicles, both of which remained on all four wheels. North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) assessed the occupant of one vehicle as fire crews prepared to remove the casualty and NWAS also assessed three occupants of a second vehicle.
"Occupants of both vehicles were conscious and breathing. The occupant of the first vehicle was removed from the vehicle by fire crews and handed over to NWAS to be taken to hospital.
"Three occupants of the second vehicle were not thought to be seriously injured after assessment by NWAS. The incident was then handed over to Merseyside Police before crews left the scene at 3.57pm."
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service confirmed a third vehicle was involved but the occupants did not need any assistance.
Police are asking people to avoid the area if they can.
